Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

1.1. These terms and conditions govern the provision of online chemistry tutoring services by Rob Gilliland Chemistry Tutor to the student/tutee.

1.2. By booking and attending a tutoring session, you agree to these terms and conditions.

2. Booking and Payment

2.1. All lessons must be booked and paid for in advance through the online booking system.

2.2. Payment confirms your appointment and secures the time slot. Failure to make payment will result in the cancellation of your booking.

3. Free Introductory Lesson

3.1. I offer a free 30-minute introductory lesson for new students only.

3.2. The introductory lesson is optional and is intended to assess your needs and establish a tutoring plan.

4. Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

4.1. You must provide a minimum of 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson.

4.2. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled lesson time will not be eligible for a refund.

4.3. Rescheduling within 48 hours is not guaranteed and will depend on availability.

5. Equipment and Software Requirements

5.1. You are responsible for ensuring that you have a reliable internet connection, a functioning webcam, and a working microphone for the duration of the lesson.

5.2. Both the webcam and microphone must be switched on at all times during the lesson.

5.3. I am not responsible for any technical issues on the Student's side that result in the inability to conduct the lesson effectively.

6. Parent/Guardian Involvement

6.1. Parents or guardians are welcome to sit in on tutoring sessions, but their presence should not interfere with the lesson.

7. Recording of Lessons

7.1. Recording of the tutoring sessions, either by the Student, Parent, or any third party, is strictly prohibited.

7.2. I reserve the right to terminate the lesson if any recording is attempted, with no refund provided.

8. Educational Outcomes

8.1. While I strive to help you improve your understanding and performance in chemistry, I do not guarantee a specific grade or outcome.

8.2. The Student's progress depends on various factors, including attendance, participation, and completion of assigned work.

9. Code of Conduct

9.1. The Student is expected to behave respectfully during all lessons. Disruptive, abusive, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in the termination of the lesson without refund.

9.2. I reserve the right to refuse further lessons if such behavior continues.

10. Limitation of Liability

10.1. I will not be held liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to, loss of data, loss of income, or missed educational opportunities.

10.2. My total liability under these terms will not exceed the total amount paid by the Student for the relevant lessons.

11. Confidentiality and Data Protection

11.1. All personal information provided by the Student or Parent will be handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

11.2. I will not share your personal information with third parties without your consent, except where required by law.

12. Governing Law

12.1. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

12.2. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Amendments

13.1. I reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated to you in advance and will apply to all bookings made after the date of the amendment.

14. Acceptance of Terms

14.1. By booking a lesson, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
